1964 Ferrari 275P - World's most expensive car?

February 2018 will see a Ferrari 275 Prototype cross the auction block with record-breaking potential. It could become the most expensive car in history. The Ferrari 275P emerged from the Bardinon Collection.

Branded with chassis number 0816, the car collected the highest honour in the world of endurance racing in 1964, clocking an average speed of 122mph over 2918 miles.

The iconic 1964 Ferrari 275P is the last official ‘works’ Ferrari to race and win at Le Mans. It will be sold at Artcurial’s Motorcars auction in Paris, potentially beating the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO that sold for US$38.1 million in 2014 and setting the record for the world’s most valuable Ferrari.

The 275P is the eighth one entered in the Le Mans endurance race by Ferrari’s factory team and went on to win overall victory between 1949 and 1964. Once the car won Le Mans in 1964, it raced three times at the Road America 500, followed by the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1965.
