2019 Ferrari 488 GTO

Ferrari has plans for a harder, more extreme version of its 488 GTB, which could be called the 488 GTO. With a sharp cut in weight and a power hike to around 700bhp, it will launch even faster than the 720S, taking 7.5 seconds to pass 124mph.

The Gran Turismo Omologato name has also been used on the 599 GTO and the legendary 250 GTO, to say nothing of the Pontiacs that “borrowed” it as well. A stripped-out cockpit and thinner glass would help cut down on weight, with a beefed-up suspension and brakes. The 0-62 time falls from three seconds flat in the GTB to about 2.7 in the GTO.
The Ferrari 488 GTB is being comprehensively re-engineered into a hardcore, track-focused variant that will go toe to toe with the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The car will essentially be a replacement to the discontinued 458 Speciale.

The track-focused Ferrari 488 GTO is expected to launch next year with its 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 upgraded to deliver an addtional 30 – 50-hp
